The Bride Wearing Paper Ring

The Day I Said Yes!

Alright "Kids, I'm going to tell you an incredible story; the story of how I met your father.." ;p Kidding aside, maybe I should start on how we first met. I had been single for 4 years and he had just broken up with a long term relationship a year ago. In my turf, it seems like a mortal sin to be single. People kept trying to pair me up with someone and push me to try and find "the one". Don't get me wrong, I'm not moping around or anything. I was perfectly happy with my life going on adventures with my friends and blogging about them. I'm not actively looking but I'm open to "suggestions".

My office mates which are also his college friends set us up to watch an all Sugarfree set musical entitled "Sa Wakas". But I'm not the type of person who can easily get along with strangers at all. So needless to say that night didn't go well for us. We didn't talk XD. Good thing he reached out to me the next day and we started talking and going out.

I don't believe in courtship where the guy always has his best foot forward so when you finally say Yes! you realize you really don't know him and feel like he doesn't make an effort anymore thus ending the relationship all too soon.

During a trip to Baguio, I already said Yes! to him with a paper ring. It was just a play proposal but it was the sweetest. 😊

Since we are getting along well, we agreed to try to be in a relationship so if it works..it works..if it doesn't.. it doesn't. It's not as easy as it sounds because I have my moods and my temper and my jealousy gets the better of me.  But he was persistent and somehow we made it work. Love is a choice and a decision two completely different persons need to make, to make it work.

So fast forward to a year after, we attended the same musical we went to the first time we met. The story of Sa Wakas is of a couple who have gone completely different paths, one too busy for the other and the other misunderstood in his art and longing for a partner. I don't really want to spoil the play for you guys. It's a beautiful play that one must watch. But the ending of the play was that the girl returned the ring to the guy and there goes the happy ending.

Paper ring meets Diamond Ring

But that was when he got down on one knee from our seats and handed me the ring. I was like "Seryoso ba yan?" His hands were cold and shaking and mine too. Then I cried because I didn't expect it at all and I was so happy. He is the only guy who makes me cry of happiness. And that is how we got engaged.

It took a while to wrap my mind around things but then my question is what's next? what do we need to prepare? I was clueless. Wedding preparations are exciting but at the same time overwhelming and exhausting. Follow me in my wedding journey as we go through all the tedious preparations that needs to be done before the wedding. As for me, the next step would be to Pick a Wedding Date.
